No oneβs coming to save you βοΈ
I know it sounds bit rude, but Iβm here to tell you the truth and not just be nice. When you accept that this is your story, and youβre the one in charge, every step gets a little bit easier.
Yes, youβll have mentors and other influencers whom youβll look up-to; but ultimately the decisions and the actions will be entirely yours. So accept this harsh truth and move forward.
Learn to take Uncomfortable Decisions π°
Did you know that human being makes almost 35,000 decisions every day! Itβs so tiring to even think about that, so imagine how it would feel like to make those uncomfortable and daunting decisions.
Well, you need to understand the core elements of every situation that life throws at you, and have to learn to see things from different angles so that you can analyse and take the best possible decision for yourself. Youβve got to back yourself even when no one else does. Because in the end, fortune favours the brave.
Iβve shared some of my personal experiences here
Learn how to manage disappointment π
I wonβt sugar-coat this, but you will face disappointments from everywhere! People you trust, theyβll stab you on your back. Relatives will disrespect you and show their true colours when least expected (Iβve experienced that countless times!), Friends will hurt you, Opportunities you worked really hard for will slip through your fingers. That βBIGβ plan you were so excited about will fall apart β completely, and in that moment youβll be left with a choice.
What would you do? How would you respond?
Donβt take those experiences as a personal attack or question your self-worth. Itβs natureβs way of teaching you lessons. Great (not-so-great-feel) lessons for FREE.
Invest in Self-Learning π
We donβt think twice about spending money on new gadgets, food delivery, or night outs. Most of us have subscriptions we hardly use (how many have you got π?)
Yet, when it comes to buying a course or learning a new skill β like investing πΉ, codingπ©π»βπ», or any marketable skillsπ β we become stingy! Suddenly, weβre hunting for freebies or putting it off altogether.
Free stuff is awesome. I know that. But if you go cheap on your own growth, itβll cost you way more in the long run. Change your attitude when it comes to investing in yourself!
As Warren Buffett said βThe most important investment you can make is in yourself.β
Get serious with Personal Finance πΈ
My favourite topic π! But seriously! Focus on the basics. Know exactly how much money is coming in, and how much is going out.
Seriously, track it every month. Use a Google Sheet, write it down on a piece of paper, but keep track no matter what.
Make saving of at least 20% of your income a habit, even if itβs a small amount. Saving isnβt just about the money β itβs about building discipline your future self will appreciate. Practice living below your means, not because you canβt afford nice things, but because your peace of mind is worth more than any new gadget or fancy stuffs. The stress of living pay-check to pay-check just isnβt worth it.
Once youβve got your footing, start thinking about the long run. Invest a little, build slowly, and let your wealth grow over time. Wealth doesnβt show up overnightβitβs the result of small, steady choices you make every day. The magic β¨of compounding is real !
Learn personal finance not to get rich quick, but so one day, you can experience true freedom.
I have covered all the above points in this video π₯
